The Board's policies are developed in consultation with the industry through the committee structure. Together they are responsible for making major decisions on the organisation's policies and procedures.
The Board performs the duties and functions prescribed in the Industrial Training Act (ITA) 1982 (as amended by the Employment Act 1988).
The main functions of the Board under the ITA relate to the provision and approval of training and financial support of training. The Board and its committees meet regularly, to ensure adequate consultation between industry representatives and staff.
