Only tradespeople who have their "trade lines" as proof of completing their apprenticeship, or have been in the business for ten years, can apply to join SCORE - the Scottish Construction Registration Executive.
Tradespeople must have completed the necessary Health and Safety training before being eligible to apply.
The SCORE BOARD, which is made up of the Scottish Builders Employers Federation, Scottish Decorators Federation and Convention of Scottish Local Authorities, Union of Construction Allied Trades and Technicians, Transport and General Workers' Union and General Municipal and Boilermakers Union, has established the criteria for registration, based on Skill and Safety.
The Score Card issued to operatives is a statement of the Skills and Safe Working Practices of the card holder. It recognises that the card holder is skilled in his or her particular occupation and has undertaken the necessary health and safety training.
