Nuclear Build Programme

The next generation of nuclear reactors will require an investment of £60 billion and be completed by 2025.

A new generation of nuclear power stations could help the UK not only tackle climate change but also secure an affordable electricity supply.

Next generation

The government has identified eight sites as suitable for building the next generation of nuclear reactors. These are outlined on the map below. Various laws and processes have been streamlined to support the building of this generation. All of the reactors will be paid for by the private sector with no direct government subsidy.
