Sky Scaffolding (Whitby) wanted to keep up with advances in scaffolding technology and needed to upskill their workforce – not only to meet rising demand, but to maximise capacity.
The Plettac system is regarded as one the most versatile and efficient scaffolding systems currently used in construction. Its innovative design allows endless adaptability for different needs and buildings, and enables the safe erection of extensive structures with great speed – reducing costs and boosting productivity.
Meeting the demand
Amanda Coates, Managing Director of Sky Scaffolding (Whitby) found that an increasing number of developers and contractors wanted to use Plettac, particularly for new builds, but she only had one employee qualified to work with it.
The solution was clear – train up the team.
“We decided to upskill six of our employees over six months to ensure that they had the professional skills and qualifications to work with the Plettac system,” she explains.“The plan was that they would take a Construction Industry Scaffolders Record Scheme (CISRS) Part 1 qualification in that system.
“Our fantastic contact from CITB told us what funding was available to us for the training and how to apply for it. With her help the application was straightforward, and we quickly received £4,300 in funding.”
