The National Skills Academy for Construction (NSAfC) is an industry-led framework supporting clients and contractors to identify, develop and realise employment and skills solutions across construction projects. It is facilitated by CITB.
At a national level the National Construction Skills Academy Group (NCSAG) provides strategic overview and direction. NCSAG is responsible for approving NSAfC status on submitted projects and client-led applications.NCSAG is chaired by an employer representative. Members are UK wide representatives from industry and wider stakeholder groups.
What are the benefits of the NSAfC?
NSAfC ensures that workers across the main contractor and supply chain, at all levels, are trained to the exact skills needed by each project.
- Enables local people to be trained into jobs, helping to create sustainable communities
- Provides clients with an EU compliant, end-to-end procurement process and guidance when negotiating S106 agreement
- Offers access to industry approved tried and tested benchmarks
How you can get involved
NSAfC supports public sector bodies to embed employment and skills interventions across construction projects. CITB have developed a toolkit known as the Client Based Approach which includes legal clauses and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) designed to deliver real employment and skills outcomes.
NSAfC will help you to identify skills solutions and deliver them, whether that’s craft, technical, professional or anywhere in between and at any point in your construction supply chain. Major developers and construction companies are continually delivering employment and skills outcomes with market leaders such as Costain and Kier operating dedicated National Skills Academy for Construction projects.
