CITB has developed this standard in discussion with industry
Duration
Minimum 2 days of 6 learning hours per day
Purpose/scope
The purpose of training delivered against this standard is to provide candidates with an introduction to the use of Helical bars for masonry stabilisation and reinforcement.
The scope includes:
- development of helical reinforcement for structural repairs
- commonly used products, tools and equipment
- remedial wall ties
- crack stitching
- lintel reinforcement
- masonry beaming
- lateral restraints.
Occupational relevance
Training delivered against this standard would be relevant to the following occupational group(s):
- operative and craft
- supervision
- management and leadership.
Candidate pre-requisites
This standard is to provide building surveyors with the knowledge to enable them to use helical bars to stabilise and reinforce masonry. Candidates should have relevant experience and qualifications.
