- a basic understanding of a pump and how to correctly design a pumping system specific for the project
- a brief look at alternative pumps such as low level, wastewater, and sewage.

Install sump chambers
|
including:
- location and positioning of sump
- installation of preformed and concrete chambers.
|
Carry out flood tests
|
flood test floor and drainage to ensure test water runs freely to sump.
|
Understand and explain the importance of anti-lime
|
lime inhibitor.

In drainage systems
|
including:
- checking levels, rebates and drainage routes Identifying jetting ports and locations
- spine drains, sump connections and discharge point
- creating a marked-up drawing/plan.

Install pipework and pumps
|
building and installing pumps and associated pipework in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.

Understand and explain the importance of inverters, batteries, alarms, and panels
|
including:
- understanding the importance of back-up systems alarms and panels
- understanding the importance of design requirements and installation.

Understand and explain Commissioning
|
|
Check electrical installation work
|
an appropriately qualified electrician needs to connect electrics to pumps, alarms and battery back-up.
|
Carry out final check of all pipe connections
|
|
Flood test system and commission pumps
|
|
Check pipes, system and drainage for leakage and obstruction
|
this is to ensure test water runs freely to sump, remedial works could be required.
|
Check that pumped water has discharged into suitable drainage
|
|
Understand and explain maintenance and service agreements
|
including creating packages
|
Deal with different waste materials
|
to include:
- segregation
- bag up
- store safely for disposal.
|
Dispose of contaminated or hazardous waste materials
|
|
Complete all relevant paperwork
|
for example service and maintenance schedules.
