CITB confirms major investment in National Construction College sites

UK Plant Operator of the Year competition tickets now available
Free visitor tickets are now available to book for the UK Plant Operator of the Year competition (UKPOOTY). The competition is run by UK Plant Operators (UKPO) Magazine while working with the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB), providing visitors the opportunity to see the best UK plant operative talent compete in a range of highly skilled challenges.

CITB achieves Consensus for its 2026-29 Levy Proposals
The results show that 67% of construction employers are in support of CITB’s Levy plans – improving on the 2021 Consensus results. Additionally, 12 out of the 14 Prescribed Organisations are in agreement with the Levy Proposals.

CITB backs new suicide prevention training programme tailored to Scottish construction industry
Barratt and David Wilson Homes North Scotland have joined forces with Scottish Action for Mental Health (SAMH) to create a new suicide prevention training programme tailored to the Scottish construction industry. The Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) is backing the bespoke training and resource programme, currently scheduled to launch Autumn 2025, with £239,000 in funding from its Industry Impact Fund.

CITB supports over 52,000 construction workers to complete mental health training
To mark the beginning of Mental Health Awareness Week (12 May – 18 May 2025), The Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) has today released its latest figures for its mental health training. Since 2018, CITB has supported over 52,000 construction workers to complete mental health training – vital support for an industry facing a mental health crisis.

New plant training standards launching on June 18
CITB continues to standardise plant training across the industry, with phase two of its new training standards launching on June 18 2025. CITB and industry representatives have been working together closely to introduce short-course training standards for plant categories that reflect the increased requirements and responsibilities for plant operators.

CITB provides nearly £130m in grant support for construction employers
The Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) has today released its year-end figures for supporting construction employers and learners through its Grants Scheme. CITB provided nearly £130m in grant support during the financial year (FY) 2024–25.

CITB Employer Networks helped over 50,000 learners access construction training in 2024-25
The Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) has today released its year-end figures for its Employer Networks initiative. It was the second full year of operation for the initiative, and figures show the Networks supported 50,966 learners in the financial year (FY) 2024-25, an increase from 11,468 the previous, inaugural year.

Meeting the evolving needs of the construction industry with Sector Skills Plans
The construction industry is at a pivotal moment, with the Government working toward ambitious homebuilding targets, and investing in large infrastructure projects – such as the £9 billion Lower Thames Crossing and Luton Airport expansion schemes, respectively approved in March and April this year.
