You must be able to:

  • Set out from drawings, ensuring accuracy of vertical and horizontal datums

  • Accurately measure and cut components including:

    • metal sections

    • plasterboard

    • insulation

    • timber

    • plywood

    • service tiles and pattresses

    • hangers

  • Fix the following components:

    • service tiles and pat hangers and tracks

    • cover trims and skirtings

    • access panels and components appropriately

    • secondary grids or cross tees

  • Install insulation, and primary channels or main runners

  • Select the appropriate hand tools, power tools, and ancillary equipment for the specific ceiling system being installed or repaired

  • Maintain and store hand tools and portable power tools in a safe and serviceable condition

  • Set out, install and repair the following suspended ceiling systems with additional components:

    • metal furring (MF) ceiling systems with linings

    • lay in grid ceiling systems

    • clip in metal pan ceiling systems

  • Working as a team and communicate in a construction environment

  • Reporting and recording progress of the work

  • Stopping work at the point of uncertainty and report findings to the assigned supervisor or responsible person on site

  • Recognising the limits of own authority
