SkillBuild is run by CITB with the endorsement of WorldSkills, competition managers for the bi-annual WorldSkills competitions, and covers ten craft occupations:

- Carpentry
- Dry Walling Systems
- Joinery
- Painting and Decorating
- Plastering
- Roofing
- Stonemasonry
- Wall and Floor Tiling
Success at the SkillBuild regional heats will give entrants the opportunity to challenge for a place on the WorldSkills UK team and progress to compete at the 2015 WorldSkills competition in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.
To compete in international WorldSkills events, competitors must be no more than 22 years of age in the year of the competition. To compete in WorldSkills 2015, competitors must have been born on or after the 1st January 1993.
Regional Heats
The registration process for SkillBuild 2013 has now closed.
15 regional heats are now underway across England, Scotland and Wales on the following dates:
The regional heats involve students working on test plans which take a day to complete, with the highest scorers put forward to compete in the national final.
Drawings and tool lists from 2012 are available to download to use as practice.
The national final test plans take 2.5 days to complete and ends with an awards evening. Competitors' accommodation and food are paid during the national final competition.
2013 changes
For the first time there will be New Entrant and Senior categories across all trades to encourage young people and those that have not entered a skills competition before to enter.
The two categories are defined as:
New Entrant – This level is applicable to students who are working on a diploma or working towards their first year of training.
Senior – This level is applicable to students that have completed their Level 1 and are working towards Level 2/3
