The training plan grant supports any training that is relevant to your business and not supported by one of our other grants. This includes bite-sized training sessions, such as toolbox talks.
Who can claim
Employers registered with CITB who completed an accurate Levy Return by 31 December 2016.
The grant supports training undertaken by your:
How much you can get
- £50 per person per day (one day is six hours).
- Plus an extra 10 per cent if you pay the levy and meet certain deadlines. See supplementary payment.
The maximum number of days you can claim for depends on the number of staff you included on your Levy Return.
What the grant supports
The grant funds all courses that directly benefit your business, which are not supported by another CITB grant. This includes:
- Courses lasting three hours or more in any subject, eg health and safety, management, administration, sales and marketing
- Short training sessions lasting 30 minutes to three hours, eg toolbox talks
- E-learning courses lasting three hours or more
- Distance learning courses
- Evening courses
- Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) course.
Short training sessions (30 minutes to three hours):
These need to total three hours and be approved by CITB before you can claim the grant. You should use the modular training plan to record the sessions and to apply for approval.

You can claim for courses in the Construction Industry Scaffolding Record Scheme (CISRS) separately from other courses. To qualify for this, scaffolding must have been your company’s main activity when you registered with CITB.
