Comply with the contract information to erect fire resisting ceiling systems to manufacturers’ and work instructions, and fire test details, to the required specification by setting out, erecting, or repairing fire resisting ceiling systems
Comply with the contract information to set out and install pattress, access hatches, and service openings to manufacturers’ and work instructions, and fire test details, to the required specification
Record the installation process throughout to ensure that specification and work instructions have been complied with and sufficient information is available for ongoing maintenance
You must know and understand:
The performance functions of a fire resisting ceiling, common failure points and the implications of incorrect installation
How to identify and follow the manufacturers’ installation and quality requirements
How to ensure the integrity and suitability of the substrate
How to set out, erect, and secure fire resisting ceiling systems in accordance with manufacturers’ instructions and project drawings
How to carry out repairs or replacement of damaged fire resisting ceiling systems in accordance with manufacturers’ instructions and project drawings and why this is important
How to understand the specific system components
How to identify and report incompatible interfaces with other systems that do not have the same fire rating
How to form joints to structures and form access hatches and service openings in accordance with manufacturers’ instructions and project drawings
How to provide for ‘second fix’ items
The importance of recognising the limits of your own authority and competence
How to work with, around and in close proximity of plant and machinery
How to work at height
How to use access equipment and systems
How to use and maintain tools and equipment in accordance manufacturers’ instruction and why this is important
That a construction product choice, substitution or recommendation cannot be made and the importance of a complete system installation in accordance with manufacturers’ instructions
That if information on construction products is communicated, the information must be passed on accurately and without changes from that created by the relevant authority
