You must be able to:

  • set out for tiling wall and floor areas ensuring joint widths are consistent, square, parallel, and plumb

  • measure, mark, and cut tiles in accordance with work requirements, including cutting around obstacles such as pipes, sockets, and drains

  • prepare backgrounds, install wall, floor tiles, and produce finished work that conforms to British standards

  • mix and apply adhesives and relevant materials to specification for fixing wall and floor tiles to surfaces

  • remove and replace damaged tiles without causing damage to adjacent finishes

  • fix tiles to vertical, horizontal, and inclined wall surfaces in accordance with British standards, manufacturers information and technical data sheets for the following:

    • wall surfaces

    • reveals

    • cills and soffits (door and windows)

    • fixture of appropriate accessories

  • fix tiles to vertical, horizontal, and inclined floor surfaces in accordance with British standards, manufacturers information and technical data sheets for the following:

    • floor surfaces

    • floor drainage and outlets

    • treads and riser

    • fixture of appropriate accessories

  • grout and finish tiles to wall and floor areas

  • undertake remedial work in accordance with specification
