Kitchen Installer - Install Fitted Furniture (FI001A)

You must be able to:

  • comply with the contract information to install kitchen units to the required specification by:

    • demonstrating work skills to:

      • measure

      • mark out

      • position

      • fit

      • secure

      • finish

      • repair and maintain

  • remove existing units and fitments ensuring the space is in the best possible condition for the new kitchen installation

  • prepare the following kitchen items to work instructions:

    • tall, base and wall units

    • work surfaces, including cutouts for sinks and appliances

    • encasement of services and heat-producing appliances

    • mouldings including internal and external corners by scribing, mitring and fixing

    • peninsular and island unit arrangements

    • sealing of exposed areas to ingress of moisture

  • install the following kitchen items to work instructions:

    • tall, base and wall units

    • work surfaces, including around sinks and appliances

    • encasement of services and heat-producing appliances

    • mouldings including internal and external corners by scribing, mitring and fixing peninsular and island unit arrangements

    • end and facia panels

    • extraction venting

  • the needs of other occupations and trades to prepare a space for a new installation including those associated with the removal of an existing kitchen that are part of the remedial work and make good activities 

  • the needs of other occupations and trades associated with the process of a new kitchen installation 

  • how to fit integrated appliances and the importance of specifications and clearances

  • the competency and legislative boundaries regarding capabilities and compliance with gas, electrics, water, waste and asbestos whilst removing and installing kitchens

  • how resources should be used and how any problems associated with the resources are reported in relation to:

    • timber

    • timber based sheet materials

    • plastics

    • resins

    • stone

    • marble

    • ceramics

    • glass

    • hand and powered tools and equipment

    • digital equipment

    • cement based boards and composites

    • sealants and adhesives

    • mouldings: timber, plastic, non-ferrous metal
