Course content

• Conform to manufacturers requirements as per the operator’s handbook/manual, other types of information source and relevant regulations and legislation.

• Go through pre-start, running checks and shut down procedures according to manufacturer’s handbook/manual.

• Stability factors

• Configure for travel (site and highway)

• Awareness of on-site hazards, underground and overhead services.

• Travel in a forward/reverse direction, through restrictions, confined areas, on level ground, undulating ground, and substantial inclines.

• Attach various mounted and trailed implements to the tractor

• Connect and operate various types of Power Take Off (PTO) driven implements

• Place machine out of service

• Explain the loading and unloading procedures on and off a transporter

Teaching and assessment

• 3 days of classroom learning and practical exercises

• 1 day CPCS technical tests.

• CPCS Trained Operator (red) Card

• CITB National Construction College E-Certificate available on request.

Entry requirements

1. CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test passed within two years of course start date.

2. Good spoken and written English.

3. Valid form of ID. See accepted forms of ID.
