Course content

The course includes:

  • Understand operator roles, responsibilities, and regulations

  • Conduct pre-use checks and routine maintenance

  • Configure excavator for various operations safely

  • Read and follow work instructions and site plans

  • Excavate, grade, and load materials efficiently and safely

  • Identify and control site hazards and ground conditions

  • Carry out safe shutdown, parking, and securing procedures

  • Prepare for CPCS theory and practical assessments.

Teaching and assessment

  • 9 days of classroom learning and practical exercises

  • 1-day CPCS technical tests.

What you get

  • CPCS Trained Operator (red) Card

  • CITB National Construction College E-Certificate available on request.

Entry requirements

  1. CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test passed within two years of course start date.

  2. Good spoken and written English.

  3. Valid form of ID. See accepted forms of ID.
