Course content

The course includes:

• Roles, responsibilities, and legal requirements (LOLER, PUWER, BS 7121)

• Types of mobile cranes, components, and controls

• Pre-use checks, inspections, and defect reporting

• Travelling, manoeuvering, and setting up safely

• Lifting operations: picking, placing, and controlling loads

• Working with signals and communication on site

• End-of-shift procedures: shutdown, securing, and transport

Teaching and assessment

• Nine days of classroom-based tutorials and practical exercises

• One day of assessment by CPCS technical tests

What you get

• CPCS Trained Operator Card (red card) on passing the CPCS technical tests

• CITB National Construction College E-Certificate available on request

Entry requirements

1. CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test passed within last two years or CPCS Plant Operative Health, Safety and Environment Test pass.

2. Good spoken and written English.

3. Valid form of ID. See accepted forms of ID.

Learners should indicate which endorsement(s) they need training for when booking. The course will be tailored according to the chosen endorsement(s):

• A60A – Blocked Duties Only - Use of a mobile crane with a minimum of four outriggers extended to execute lifting tasks.
