Course content
This course includes:
Establishing work are protection
Segregation of highway works
Locating and protecting utilities in the highway
Excavation
Reinstatement of highways.
You’ll also study personal skills. These include:

Teaching and assessment
16 weeks of training over 24 months.
Week 1: Induction
Weeks 2 to 16: Theoretical and practical training at NCC Scotland in two-week blocks, with work-based SVQ assessment
Regular assessment by:
Written and practical assessments
Verbal questioning and presentation
Multiple-choice testing
College and site-based activity journals
Evidence of work experience completed through OneFile
Entry requirements
Academic requirements:
You’ll need to complete a skills learning exercise to help us assess your suitability for this course. Further tests at college are also possible.
General requirements:
Good level of physical fitness. This course includes strenuous physical activity.
Comfortable working at heights.
Comfortable working in confined spaces.
Comfortable wearing PPE/RPE.
Able to work to deadlines.
Valid form of ID. See accepted forms of ID.
