Course content
This course includes:
Mobile Crane, Crawler Crane or Tower Crane
Slinger/Signaller
Telescopic Handler
MEWPS (Boom & Scissor)
Forward Tipping Dumper (non CPCS)
Plant and Vehicle Marshaller (non CPCS).
You’ll also study personal skills. These include:
Maths
English
Communication
Teaching and assessment.
Teaching and assessment
Year 1:
13 weeks classroom-based theory and practical training, with assessments
Year 2:
After course completion, you will get a blue CPCS (Construction Plant Competence Scheme) card for the selected Crane used in the apprenticeship.
This excludes the Slinger/Signaller and Telescopic Handler categories, which are on the red CPCS card. These can be changed to a blue card for an additional cost.

There are no formal academic requirements for this course, but National 5 grades A-D in English and Maths are useful.
General requirements:
Good communication skills.
Moderate level of physical fitness. Contact us if you’re not sure you meet requirements.
Comfortable with heights.
Technical know-how.
