Teaching and assessment
Teaching involves classroom-based discussion, case studies, group work, presentations and homework.
Students must attend all 37.5 hours as per the Site Safety Plus attendance requirements.
They must also pass a multiple-choice test.

*This certificate must be renewed every five years before it expires by attending the SMSTS Refresher course. Otherwise, you will need to take the full SMSTS course again.
Entry requirements
A valid SMSTS certificate from the last five years. You must take this course before your certificate expires.
Good spoken and written English.
Valid form of ID. See accepted forms of ID.
Test re-sits must take place within 90 days of the original course date (at an additional charge).
