Course content
This course includes:
Health, Safety and Welfare
Working at height
Handling and storing steel fixing materials
Small tools operation
Cutting, bending and jointing reinforced steel
Positioning and fixing reinforced steel
Constructing columns, beams, floors and walls
Pile Caps and Cages
Levelling and setting out.
You’ll also study personal skills. These include:
Teaching and assessment
16 weeks of training over 18 months, plus on-the-job experience.
Assessment:
You’ll be regularly assessed using a range of methods, including written assessment, practical assessment, verbal questioning and presentation, and multiple-choice testing.
You’ll also be required to complete college-based and site-based activity journals. You’ll be given clear, direct and constructive feedback to enable you to make progress and successfully complete the course.

Academic requirements:
While the need to study maths and English qualifications isn’t required for learners aged 19 and over, we believe these skills are important for success. That’s why we include industry-relevant maths and English lessons as part of our courses.
To make sure learners have the right skills to help them successfully achieve their apprenticeship programme, we ask for the below:
Level 2 Apprenticeship:
Maths and English GCSE grades 3-9 (the same as old grades D-A), or equivalent

General requirements:
Moderate level of physical fitness. Contact us if you’re not sure you meet requirements.
Comfortable with heights.
Comfortable working to deadlines
Valid form of ID. See accepted forms of ID.

Grants and funding
Apprenticeship grants are available for eligible employers. For further information please visit our grant pages.
Skills England (DfE) applicants are only guaranteed full funding if this is their first training scheme and they are aged between 16 and 18.
