CITB National Construction College Welfare Team

How we can help you

NCC has a welfare team who are there to support you with day-to-day concerns outside of the classroom and help you towards success. They can support you with your mental, physical, social, and emotional wellbeing.

What we do

Welfare Officers are located on site to provide you with:

  • Support during your time away in training

  • A point of contact while you are away from home and your employer

  • A communication link between other college staff members, the college’s management team and any external agencies.

Supporting learners with additional support needs

At NCC, we are committed to ensuring that every learner has the support they need to succeed. If you have additional support needs, we encourage you to let us know so we can put the right support in place for you. This can be done during the sign-up and onboarding process, or if you would like to tell us after that time:

You can reach out to:

  • Your teaching team

  • Teaching Assistants

  • Welfare Services team (available at NCC centres)

  • Apprenticeships Development Coaches/Officer

  • Your Assessor

We also provide an easy way to self-declare your support needs via a QR code available throughout our colleges.

For apprentices, an initial assessment for neurodiversity will be completed during your first week at college to help us understand your needs and provide tailored support from the start.

Any information you share about your learning needs will be treated with the utmost respect and used only to provide appropriate support.

Our goal is to create an inclusive learning environment where every learner can thrive.

Personal careers guidance for apprentices

At NCC, we are committed to supporting your career development every step of the way. As an apprentice learner, you have access to one-to-one impartial careers guidance sessions delivered by a qualified careers advisor.

These sessions are designed to help you:

  • Explore career pathways within the construction industry

  • Understand progression opportunities and qualifications

  • Receive tailored advice to achieve your career goals

As an apprentice, you will be invited to a careers guidance session roughly two-thirds of the way through your college programme. You can also request additional sessions before or after that time. To request a careers guidance session, you can:

  • Speak to your teaching team, Personal Development Lecturer, Apprentice Development Coach/Officer or Welfare Team who will make a referral for you.

  • By locating one of our posters in the college and make direct contact with our Careers Leader by mobile phone.

  • Email directly to: personaldevelopment.apprentice@citb.co.uk

Your future matters to us and we’re here to help you make informed decisions about your next steps.
