The National Construction College (NCC) is committed to fostering an environment that reflects the diversity of the UK. Our goal is to provide a well-resourced, supportive, and inclusive environment for learning where everyone can thrive and achieve their full potential.

These guidelines are designed to help every learner and member of staff make the most of NCC’s programmes, resources, and facilities, ensuring a supportive and rewarding experience for all.

Entitlement statement

As a learner at NCC, you are entitled to:

  • Be treated with fairness, dignity, and respect at all times.

  • Learn in an environment that is inclusive, supportive, and free from discrimination, bullying, harassment, or any form of disadvantage.

  • Enjoy a positive learning experience without disruption from inappropriate behaviour.

  • Have access to a confidential whistleblowing process should you need to raise concerns.

  • Speak to a member of the Safeguarding Team, or any other trusted adult within NCC, if you have any worries, concerns or require support.

Our expectations of learners

At NCC, we expect all learners to contribute to a respectful and inclusive learning environment by:

  • Acting responsibly and following NCC policies and procedures.

  • Valuing and respecting our facilities, equipment and shared spaces.

  • Demonstrating courtesy and consideration for others embracing diversity in all its forms, including age, disability, gender identity, race, religion or belief, sexual orientation, and neurodiversity.

  • Engaging in behaviours that promote equality and inclusion, ensuring everyone feels safe and supported.

  • Communicating in a positive and professional manner, avoiding language or actions that could cause offence or distress.

  • Maintaining appropriate boundaries and respecting personal space and property.

Complaints

At NCC, your voice matters. If you ever feel you’ve experienced unfair or discriminatory treatment, or simply want to share feedback, we encourage you to speak up. You can raise a concern informally or formally, and we will always handle it with care, sensitivity, and respect.

Our aim is to resolve issues promptly and fairly, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for everyone. In some cases, this may involve taking appropriate action to uphold our standards of inclusion and respect.

You can share your feedback or make a complaint through our Customer Feedback Form, or by speaking directly with a member of our team.

Additional support is available through:

  • Teaching Assistants and teaching team, who are here to help with any learning-related concerns and support requirements.

  • Our Welfare Team are available at NCC sites to provide guidance and support.
