Building Better Business Programme

Project Summary
Challenge
Today's construction businesses are under growing pressure to do more with less. From increasing productivity and embracing digital technologies to adapting to evolving customer expectations and market conditions, organisations must continually evolve to remain competitive.
However, with teams focused on delivering projects, managing resources, and meeting deadlines, many businesses have limited time and capacity to invest in innovation, learning, and business improvement initiatives.
Solution
This project has been designed to provide practical, accessible support for construction business leaders, helping them make informed decisions about innovation, growth and long-term business success.
Through a series of facilitated leadership workshops, participants will be encouraged to think strategically, challenge assumptions and develop clear, actionable plans for the future. The workshops focus on discussion, reflection and practical application, enabling leaders to explore opportunities within their own businesses and identify meaningful next steps.
Supporting the workshops is a suite of digital learning resources, including podcasts, short videos, business diagnostic tools and a practical guidebook. Together, these resources create a flexible and accessible learning experience that supports both programme participants and the wider construction sector, providing a lasting library of innovation and growth resources. The programme is designed to work equally well for sole traders, SMEs and larger organisations because the focus is on developing better thinking, not prescribing a single approach.
The programme will include:
Industry Learning Partnership: Six facilitated half-day workshops and two online sessions with Procladd (Scotland) Ltd’s leadership team, exploring opportunities and challenges with innovation and growth within a live construction business
Open Industry Workshops: Building on the learning from the Industry Learning Partnership, six live workshops will be delivered to construction businesses across Scotland and will combine practical frameworks enabling participants to apply learning to their own organisations.
Open Learning Resources: To maximise accessibility and sustainability, each workshop will be supporting by freely available learning resources available via CITB. These resources will include:
A series of podcasts discussing topics through practical construction examples
Interview based podcasts with industry members
Two videos introducing key concepts, tools and frameworks.
Construction Innovation & Growth Guidebook: a practical resource designed for construction businesses, acting as a workbook that will bring together the programmes learning into a concise, practical resources that will cover innovation, growth, strategy, stakeholder engagement, systems, culture and implementation.
