End of project summary

The project was terminated in May 2020 as a result of the strategic changes from CITB's response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the summary reflects this.

In the short time Women Construct Wales was operational prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the project was exceeding all targets. In a 9-month period, the project engaged with 52 women, supporting them to learn construction skills in a supportive environment. Of these, 4 obtained their CSCS cards whilst 21 progressed into employment, education or training. In doing so, an empty house in was renovated and returned to the housing market, whilst another was being renovated when the pandemic hit.

The project was successful in demonstrating an effective approach to engaging with an under-represented group in construction, providing them with the confidence, support, knowledge and skill development required to successfully progress in the industry.
