Long qualification grant

From 8 January 2026, CITB funding for long qualifications is changing. Information about the changes and why they were made is on the Funding changes information page.

We pay grants for the successful achievement of approved higher-level qualifications which take more than one year to complete on a part time basis and that focus on the core construction skills needed across the industry.

We pay grants for the achievement of approved, higher-level qualifications that are focused on the core construction skills needed across the industry. We support courses undertaken through distance learning and e-learning. Higher level qualifications include:

  • Higher National Certificates and Diplomas (HNCs and HNDs)
  • Degrees (BSCs)

These grants are for long qualifications and do not apply to apprenticeships. See the Apprenticeship grants page for details of available support in this area. Degrees that are equivalent to a Level 7 (i.e. MSC’s) are not supported. 

Who can apply for these grants?

You can apply if you’re a CITB Registered employer and up to date with your Levy Returns. As well as fulfilling our general Grants Scheme Policy and specific requirements for this grant.

You can apply for this grant for all directly employed staff on the payroll and all subcontractors.

How much is it?

  • £600 achievement grant on successful completion of this qualification.

How to apply

Apply for this grant through the CITB Online Services portal within 52 weeks of the achievement date. Simply sign up or sign in to get started.

If you are unable to use the Online Services portal, you can apply for grant by email. Download the individual application form to apply for one course, or the bulk application from if you wish to apply for multiple courses, and send it to us at the email address below.

Save and email your completed application form to grant.claimforms@citb.co.uk

Attach a copy of the achievement certificate or other evidence of achievement from the awarding body. Any such evidence must include the learner’s full name, achievement title and achievement date. Your application cannot be processed without this.

Long qualification grant transition period

Following changes announced on 8 December 2025, for a limited period we will pay grants as follows:

Achievement

Level 6 and lower (e.g. BSc)

  • £1,875 on successful completion by 7 January 2026
  • £600 on successful completion from 8 January 2026

Level 7 and above (e.g. MSc)

  • £1,875 on successful completion by 7 January 2026
  • £600 on successful completion between 8 January 2026 and 31 March 2028 (Will only be honoured where there is an attendance package in place that started by 8 December 2025 and submitted to CITB by 31 March 2026)
