Construction workers benefit from new multilingual FIR learning app

The Supply Chain School App, a new mobile app providing a suite of resources specifically for construction site-based workers and supervisors, is being rolled out across the UK. Available on Apple and Android devices, it aims to help create more inclusive workplaces.
The initiative is part of the Black Hats Fairness, Inclusion and Respect on Site project, which has been made possible through £489,260 of funding awarded by The Construction Industry Training Board’s (CITB) Industry Impact Fund.
It has been developed by Morgan Sindall Infrastructure in partnership with the Supply Chain Sustainability School who are delivering the application.
Since its launch in March 2025, the Fairness, Inclusion and Respect (FIR) mobile app has been downloaded more than 400 times, with users completing more than 2,200 learning modules. The programme has also received positive feedback from 98% of its participants.
Each module is under five minutes and is available in English, Bulgarian, Lithuanian, Polish, Punjabi and Romanian. Features include a short quiz to reinforce key behaviours and simple log in instructions as workers use their mobile phone number which grants them instant access to practical learning through real site workers and scenarios.
Modules have been developed with direct insight from people working on the tools to ensure relevance and impact.
The success of the application has not gone unrecognised as it was recently shortlisted for the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Initiative of the Year award at the Inspiring Women in Construction and Engineering Awards 2026.
Through collaboration with clients, contractors and site teams, Morgan Sindall Infrastructure identified a range of challenges to creating more inclusive site cultures which paved the way for this initiative’s development and recent success.
These included behavioural issues, limited access to training, language barriers, a lack of time for learning, and inconsistent approaches to embedding equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) expectations across supply chains.
It was those findings which catalysed the progress of the project which led to the development of multilingual induction materials, mobile learning modules, site standards and practical guidance to help create more inclusive workplaces on sites across the UK.
