Existing ATOs (Approved Training Organisations)

CITB is responsible for helping to develop and maintain standards and qualifications in the construction industry, we do this by ensuring that training provided is delivered and assessed to an industry agreed standard.

As a CITB Approved Training Organisation (ATO) you have agreed to provide construction training courses and qualifications to a defined and industry-agreed training standard.

To support our ATOs and ensure a consistent approach in how they treat learners and provide their services, we have specific policies in place. Our Quality Assurance team supplements this approach with occasional visits to check an ATO's training premises.

Policies

If you have any questions about these policies, please email ctdservices@citb.co.uk

Types of training categories

There are three categories of training that an ATO can offer. They are defined as:

  • Assured

These are training products that meet the CITB short duration training standards

  • CITB

This refers to CITB products such as Site Safety Plus (SSP) or Internet test Centres (ITCs)

  • Recognised

These are training courses and qualifications that are provided by an awarding organisation, such as City & Guilds or NOCN. These products are on CITB's list of recognised qualifications and short courses.
