The registrations for SkillBuild, the UK’s largest and longest-running multi-trade skills competition, delivered by the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB), are now open. SkillBuild invites the UK’s top construction trainee talent, skilled learners and apprentices to battle it out to be crowned winners of their chosen trade.

Winners of the SkillBuild National Final 2025 announced

The UK’s top construction trainee talent gathered in Milton Keynes this week to compete at the SkillBuild National Final 2025, delivered by the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB). The 80 participants went head-to-head over three days, with the winners from each of the 10 construction trades being announced at last night’s awards ceremony.

Construction and Engineering Week 2025 gets into full swing

One of the largest ever skills events kicked off yesterday (23 September) at Lincolnshire Showground. Over three days (Tuesday 23 to Thursday 25 September) more than 1,500 school children, aged between 10 and 18 years, will get a hands-on introduction to vital trades such as carpentry, bricklaying, block paving, electrical and mechanical engineering, as well as virtual reality welding.

UK Plant Operator of the Year 2025: The Results

The UK Plant Operator of the Year (UKPO) 2025 took place at CITB’s National Construction College (NCC) in Bircham Newton, Norfolk, on Saturday 6 September. The competition brought together the best plant operator competitors, global manufacturers, national and regional plant hirers and contractors from across the UK, with the overall winner collecting the grand prize of £10,000 from a total prize pot of £20,000.

CITB Skills & Training Conference returns to Perth

The next CITB Skills & Training Conference is heading to Perth where employers and training providers will gather to discuss Scotland’s skills and training landscape. Perth Theatre and Concert Hall hosts the event on Thursday 28 August, when Graeme Dey, MSP, Minister for Higher & Further Education, will be amongst the day’s key speakers. The Minister will be joined by the CITB Executive Team and advisors, along with construction employers, industry federations, training groups, training providers and Tier 1 contractors.
