The project will build capacity in the North West by adding onto the existing services the North West Contractors Training Group offers to its members. These services will deliver business improvement through a toolkit containing 12 modules. These 12 modules will be piloted through a series of workshops designed to support members in the delivery of this toolkit to their employees.

The project will address the common obstacles faced by construction sector SME’s, and will improve the long term growth and financial sustainability of the company. The project is a business programme combining structured workshops which address generic problems and issues faced by SME’s, and bespoke one to one coaching and support

The project will develop a 'Carbon Coach Course', this course will be a comprehensive skills programme for construction apprenticeships, introducing the topic of carbon reduction and best practice energy management to attendees.

The project will equip the industry to respond to the 2025 objective 'Driving Carbon out of the Built Environment 2025'.

The project will deliver a radical approach to collaborative leadership based on existing and emerging global best practice models fit for this connected and potentially disruptive world. It will collaborate with key stakeholders to develop joint solutions on skills gaps, industry and societal challenges. The collaboration will result in a framework aligned to the challenges and opportunities facing the industry and its position in the wider society.

The project will build expertise in senior management through the IEMA Accredited Environmental Awareness course and use this expertise to develop and deploy be-spoke short-duration courses.

The training will adopt a modular structure to target particular specialisms.  Developing modules rather than block courses allows the company to efficiently target specific job roles and remove non-essential content not relevant to the audience.

After the project the environmental awareness course will be developed and freely available upon request.  10 employers will have received the benefit of the training.

This project addresses the issues of supply and demand in multi-skilled training by:

• Increasing the quality of provision and capacity to train
• Raising awareness of the potential of multi-skilling to tackle strategic industry priorities
• Deliver quantifiable business and employee benefits.

The project will design a programme to assess and to train over 900 engineers nationwide to support them in developing skills needed to be a property maintenance engineer.

After the project industry efficiency will be increased by reducing travel time and ensuring jobs are completed on a first visit basis. This will increase customer satisfaction.

The resources used to achieve this will be available for industry to use.

The Right to Work project is aimed at providing construction businesses, and their entire supply chain with accessible training on how to check the ‘right to work’ status of all their employees thereby preventing illegal working and any modern slavery/trafficking activities.

The method for communicating this information will be via video. This video can be hosted on the CITB website or CITB YouTube channels, allowing access to everyone in the industry, large or small.

The project will design, develop and pilot a training and upskilling programme. This programme will train new entrants under an apprentice framework, and upskill existing staff.

The programme will be based around a new NVQ diploma for “Trenchless Technology Operatives” which is linked to a CSCS skilled worker card.

The project will deliver a package of training that will enable companies to upskill existing workers from the IOWCTG membership that is experiencing a shortage of qualified site managers. This is achieved by enrolling on the NVQ6 Site Management programme This programme is supported by classroom based face-to-face interactive training of Nationally recognised site manager qualifications which are not ordinarily available on the Island.
