The project will develop a programme to accredit organisations in the British Standards Institution ISO18404 for Lean Construction. 

One organisation will receive the accreditation and a best practice case study will be developed to support other employers through the process.

After the project, one employer will become accredited in the ISO Lean Construction standard. Another will have undertaken training so they have the ability to do so. The guidance and training materials used to achieve this will be made available to industry so that other employers can go on the same journey and achieve accreditation.

The project will deliver a range of training and development interventions. The aim of this project is to deliver skills to construction firms working on Sherford Town which is being built outside Plymouth. This new town build is putting pressure on traditional house-building occupations in the area.

It requires specific skills due to the specialist building techniques being used on the site. These specialist skills include: English Bond Bricklaying, Traditional roofing Styles, Sash Windows, Dry Lining and Sealant operatives.

After the project, the local workforce will have been skilled to deliver the unique construction methods required to deliver a keystone regional project. Ex-military will have been given a pathway into construction and the opportunity to secure work.

The project will further develop an employer toolkit which will result in the creation of an inclusive and diverse workforce. Leaders and Managers from main contractors and their supply chains will receive the training and development to embed FIR principles into their project delivery and workforce management strategies.

The project will support 60 disabled adults across Scotland and England into employment in the construction industry through a programme of mentoring, structured training and work experience programme.

The project will improve the knowledge and capacity of school teachers and Post 16 tutors in built environment subjects to teach Building Information Modelling (BIM). BIM4Education will coordinate Centre of Excellence hubs linked to DEC& BIM accreditation. Employers, Educational Professionals and Learners will work together to explore solutions to built environment, civil & design problems.

BuildForce is a collaborative employer-led project, enabling service leavers and veterans to understand and pursue careers in construction and the built environment.

It will deliver training and individual support to translate existing skills, gain new ones and access sustainable employment and progression opportunities in construction companies across the UK.

This project will develop and deliver a pathway, transferable across the sector, for career changers to enter the construction industry. As part of the project - 20 women will achieve a L2/3 qualification in the specified trades; A comprehensive Best Practice Guide will be produced; 50 mentors will be trained, including 10 achieving a higher level qualification (train the trainer); A minimum of 10 different companies will received 'Unconscious Bias' training, with feedback as to how this has changed their perceptions; A minimum of 10 different companies will receive  'Agile' training, with feedback as to how this has changed their perceptions.

The project will encourage more women to consider construction as a positive career choice by increasing employment of social housing tenants and those from the local community.

This employment will be created in the social housing or building maintenance sector.

The project will develop and deliver a programme aimed at promoting careers in the construction sector and address the employment challenge facing the construction sector in the South West.

The target new entrants are career changers and groups that are under-represented in our sector. The programme will focus on delivering training outcomes in Chartered Management Institute Diploma level 2, 3 or 4 depending on professional background and experience.

As well as SSMTS, CSCS, multi-trade construction awards, project management, English, maths and ICT as required.

The project will address the roofing industry training needs by bringing together the main roofing industry stakeholders, the 12 regional roof training groups and 11 major roofing trade associations to develop and roll out a basic competency programme.

The Basic Competency Programme represents manufacturers training derived from the minimum technical competencies and mapped to a Vocational Qualification and National Occupational Standards.
