The project will develop and pilot an e-learning Lean Development Pathway which will include a self-assessment, a number of videos and an online portfolio function. 20 organisations will set up cohorts whose objective is to solve problems in the workplace. The project will include “train the trainer” workshops and mentoring. The Supply Chain School portal will host and promote developed content.

The project is a pilot to train construction workers on the ‘Assured Performance Process’, a methodology produced by the National Energy Foundation.

Modules will be developed in: Induction for Assured Performance Process sites, delivering performance onsite fabrics trades; delivering performance onsite services trades, site management for assured energy performance.

This will develop into a training programme which can be used to train construction workers on other Assured Performance Process projects.

Project summary:

The project will develop a programme to accredit organisations in the British Standards Institution ISO18404 for Lean Construction. 

One organisation will receive the accreditation and a best practice case study will be developed to support other employers through the process.

After the project, one employer will become accredited in the ISO Lean Construction standard. Another will have undertaken training so they have the ability to do so. The guidance and training materials used to achieve this will be made available to industry so that other employers can go on the same journey and achieve accreditation.

Project summary:

The project will increase productivity by reducing the errors and defects that cause rework. Modules and e-learning will be developed and piloted that will deliver a ‘right first time’ culture at leadership level of organisations. To make the project scalable, set of train the trainer resources will be produced.

Research will identify and recommend ways of measuring the rate errors and defects. This will help to set out an industry baseline to measure any future impact on productivity.

After the project, the course modules and teaching resources will be made freely available to industry and be eligible for short-duration grant funding. Guidance on how to implement the training with their partner modules for the other two 'Get it right' projects to deliver change on a project or in an organisation. Guidance will explain how to deliver training, when and with which roles.

The project will build individual, organisational and industry knowledge of Fairness, Inclusion and Respect (FIR) in the workplace. This product can also be used as a catalyst to achieve cultural change. This will be achieved through the development of FIR training resources, upskilling of FIR ambassadors, managing a network of training and delivery workshops, building a sustainable funding model which will support the continuation of this project when the funding period ends.

The project will train in-house NVQ Assessors to assess employees within their own organisation in five key trades. Fineline Carpentry will pilot this approach and seek to encourage other employers to join and repeat this approach. It will initially address these issues for the consortium members. The intention is to develop the model and extend its usage to Plymouth, Devon and South West.

The rail network is undergoing a significant upgrade investment in rail way lines which has increased the demands for skilled workers across the sector. The project will provide additional training for the existing workforce .

The purpose is to renew and / or gain a Sentinel proof of competency card to develop competent rail technical engineers. The project will deliver a blend of training initiatives, upskilling and enabling employees to undertake complex Engineering and Technical roles.

The aim is to improve employee retention and increase the pool of talent within the sector, along with enhancing employee skills and providing them with transferable qualifications.
