The project will further develop an employer toolkit which will result in the creation of an inclusive and diverse workforce. Leaders and Managers from main contractors and their supply chains will receive the training and development to embed FIR principles into their project delivery and workforce management strategies.

The project will support 60 disabled adults across Scotland and England into employment in the construction industry through a programme of mentoring, structured training and work experience programme.

The project will improve the knowledge and capacity of school teachers and Post 16 tutors in built environment subjects to teach Building Information Modelling (BIM). BIM4Education will coordinate Centre of Excellence hubs linked to DEC& BIM accreditation. Employers, Educational Professionals and Learners will work together to explore solutions to built environment, civil & design problems.

The project will encourage more women to consider construction as a positive career choice by increasing employment of social housing tenants and those from the local community.

This employment will be created in the social housing or building maintenance sector.

The project will develop and deliver a programme aimed at promoting careers in the construction sector and address the employment challenge facing the construction sector in the South West.

The target new entrants are career changers and groups that are under-represented in our sector. The programme will focus on delivering training outcomes in Chartered Management Institute Diploma level 2, 3 or 4 depending on professional background and experience.

As well as SSMTS, CSCS, multi-trade construction awards, project management, English, maths and ICT as required.

The project will undertake research by carrying out pilot studies and business mapping, to evaluate the people and business readiness for BIM, resulting in a business case for further investment in people, process innovation, collaborative working, cultural change, training, systems and new design software technology.

At the end of the project a report will contribute to industry's understanding of how to implement BIM by means of building a strong business case for adoption. The benefits of BIM, particularly in housing, will be recorded in a PowerPoint presentation available on request from Stewart Milne.

The project will build capacity in the North West by adding onto the existing services the North West Contractors Training Group offers to its members. These services will deliver business improvement through a toolkit containing 12 modules. These 12 modules will be piloted through a series of workshops designed to support members in the delivery of this toolkit to their employees.

The project will develop a 'Carbon Coach Course', this course will be a comprehensive skills programme for construction apprenticeships, introducing the topic of carbon reduction and best practice energy management to attendees.

The project will equip the industry to respond to the 2025 objective 'Driving Carbon out of the Built Environment 2025'.

The project will deliver a radical approach to collaborative leadership based on existing and emerging global best practice models fit for this connected and potentially disruptive world. It will collaborate with key stakeholders to develop joint solutions on skills gaps, industry and societal challenges. The collaboration will result in a framework aligned to the challenges and opportunities facing the industry and its position in the wider society.
