Project summary:

The project will develop and deliver a programme aimed at promoting careers in the construction sector and address the employment challenge facing the construction sector in the South West.

The target new entrants are career changers and groups that are under-represented in our sector. The programme will focus on delivering training outcomes in Chartered Management Institute Diploma level 2, 3 or 4 depending on professional background and experience.

As well as SSMTS, CSCS, multi-trade construction awards, project management, English, maths and ICT as required.

Project summary:

The project will overcome the practical barriers to delivering work experience and increase the appeal of working within the industry by designing a week of work experience activity that any construction contractor can download and put into practise.

The activity will provide a ‘real life’ project, and a taster of a range of careers. It will link to the curriculum in a range of ways including maths, design technology, science, geography, citizenship and English.
