This training will be available to companies in England, Scotland and Wales and will be free of charge when accessing this training during the pilot period.
3B Training Ltd have been awarded the contract to deliver this pilot and are currently developing the training course material and delivery plan. The Installer training standards are all 1-day duration, and the Supervisor training a 2-day duration.

It is estimated that the industry needs 4,000 additional bricklayers per annum.
The Brickwork Masterclasses will be delivered to existing workers in the homebuilding workforce. This 90-minute upskilling programme follows the success of a recent programme which delivered short brickwork training sessions which contributed to a reduction to defects in new housebuilding.

It is estimated that the industry needs 4,000 additional bricklayers per annum.
Since 2019, CITB has invested in the delivery of bricklaying skills. CITB have funded the development of 16 short courses in specific areas of brick work (e.g. Installing Fire Barriers & Breaks, Brick Slip Systems and Sills, Copings, Cappings and Junctions) and delivered brickwork standards training to 15 colleges. As of February 2023, this upskilling programme had supported over 1500 learning interventions in further education (“FE”) programmes and to over 400 experienced bricklayers.

This method delivers change through achievable cycles of learn / test / do / review that allow leaders to undertake gradual stages of digital adoption, learn through the process but also taking practical steps to digitalise during the training. These programmes will increase adaptive capability and approaches to unlock and exploit digital opportunities within the sector.Each training programme is proposed to be accredited with ILM at L3 (team level); L5 (departmental level); L7 (organisational level). The project aims to ensure training is eligible for grant funding as an exit strategy. 48 construction companies will each put two leaders through the programme. This will help to unlock digital change at strategic and operational levels of a business.
After the project participating employers will have taken measurable steps to digitalisation. The qualifications will be available for industry to access and benefit from. NFB will follow process to ensure they are eligible for grant funding.

- Immersive Learning for Construction – Plymouth (Immersive Learning)

Funding topic:Learning resources, Sectors and roles, Small employer support, Digital and new technology, Leadership and managementProject lead:City College PlymouthAmount awarded:£270,000Project summary:The project will reduce learning hours and increase retention of students by developing a high-quality virtual 4-bedroom house and building site from which a range of learning can be undertaken.
Behavioural safety training modules will be developed at each stage of construction, for example: plant and equipment hazards in initial stages; Working at Height in the final stages; and electrical and fire hazards in a completed build.Modules will map to the OCN Level 1 Health and Safety course and will be multi-purpose across disciplines. Intervention will be a blended learning solution - learned in the real world and rehearsed in the virtual world.
In addition, the project will also support blended learning including VR for Construction Managers and Supervisors.
The project will also expand the capacity and capability of immersive learning by promoting VR in construction at careers events, as well as deliver a programme of upskilling college staff and local employers in how to adopt & embed IL.
At the end of the project, the benefits of using immersive learning for behavioural safety and hazard awareness will be played back to industry, and VR content and teaching modules will be made available to industry. Learners will have received learning in a more impactful way than traditional methods, potentially leading to better performance on site. - World class skills for off-site construction (improving skills for off-site construction)

It will use a range of blended learning solutions that draw from and build upon existing content.
Resources will be made freely available on the Supply Chain Sustainability School (SCSS) platform along with the skills diagnostic tool and trainer upskilling resources, underpinned by SCSS learner management systems.
After the project MTC will achieve scalability of the developed materials through the networks within partners National Open College Network (NOCN) and Supply Chain School NOCN will disseminate through its network of 600 providers, quality assure the materials and commit to maintaining them for at least two years after the project. DMR is proposing to support employers in the 2 sectors to address their skills gaps. This will result in the recruitment of new assessors and Internal Quality Assurance staff (IQA’s), the re-deployment of existing assessors and an investment in the skills, qualifications and professional development of new and existing assessors. DMR will offer employers the opportunity for new and existing employees to undertake nationally recognised NVQ qualifications as part of employee development and upskilling arrangements with directed training support made available, as required.
