The purpose of this standard is to give the candidate the skills and knowledge needed to correctly inspect and teach the methods of inspecting safety harnesses and associated equipment across differing environments for working at height, as an in-company appointed person. Training is specifically designed for any person who is involved with hiring out harnesses and associated equipment.

The purpose of this standard is to provide the delegate with the knowledge to further support their learning with the following: understanding the characteristics of resources; organisational procedures for selecting resources; identifying potential hazards with resources; protecting work and work area from damage; understanding work programmes; how to communicate with your team and others; carrying out external and internal pre and post installation checks; installing pre-finished or non-finished insulation systems; minimising thermal bridging; installing vapour control barriers; risks associated with ventilation and combustion appliances; recognising specific requirements for structures of special interest, traditional construction and historical significance; recognising when specialist skills are required; disposing of waste; looking after tools and equipment; working at height; safe use of access equipment and harness systems.
