Construction Skills Network forecasts 2018-2022 - South East
The South East’s total construction output is forecast to rise by an annual average of 1.1% over the next five years, just below the UK average of 1.3%. The public housing sector is expected to see the greatest annual average expansion of 3.5% between 2018 and 2022. The region’s construction employment is anticipated to increase by an average yearly rate of 0.8%, above the UK rate of 0.5%. The annual recruitment requirement is at 2,250.

What does this mean for construction jobs?
This means that demand for some trades will be higher than others. The jobs most in demand over the next five years, in the South East are:
- Other construction professional and technical staff - 370
- Painters and decorators – 330
- Other construction process managers – 260
- Non construction professional, technical and IT staff - 200
- Construction project managers - 160
