CITB is currently recruiting for a Industry Funding Committee Member, and a Nation Council Member for England and Scotland.
Expression of Interest for CITB Industry Funding Committee Independent Member Position
CITB is inviting individuals who have current experience of working in construction - ideally from a small or medium sized employer (SME) - with a strong interest in modernising the industry. As part of strengthening the breadth of representation across Great Britain, we particularly welcome applications from individuals based in Scotland, to ensure Scottish industry perspectives are fully reflected within Committee decision making.
We are looking for an individual with a keen interest in funding, skills, and training to join the Industry Funding Committee as an Independent Member.
Role
One Independent Member position is available, and the successful applicant will help the Industry Funding Committee oversee the implementation and future direction of CITB’s Funding Investment. The Committee provides assurance to the Board that Levy funding is utilised effectively while ensuring that funded activity and commissions remain sustainable and affordable.
The Industry Funding Committee reports to the CITB Board and is chaired by CITB Board Trustee.
The purpose of the Committee is to:
- Develop, for approval by the Board, Funding Investments that deliver against the Board’s strategic priorities.
- Monitor and review the delivery and impact of CITB funding—including Employer Funds, the Grants Scheme and Commissions—and provide assurance to the Board that activities remain fit for purpose, or recommend changes.
- Advise the Board on the impact of funding activity and provide recommendations on the future direction of Funding Investments.
- Act as a decision making body with delegated authority from the Board to approve industry funding of up to £5m for any single commission or funding project.
To best serve industry, the Committee aims to reflect a wide range of perspectives from across the construction sector. We particularly encourage expressions of interest from SME employers and Scottish representatives, in addition to individuals with a strong understanding of the current and future skills challenges in construction.
Skills and Expertise
We are seeking a candidate who has in depth, current knowledge of funded skills and training provision and initiatives within the construction industry. Previous Board or Committee experience is not required. This role is an excellent opportunity for an individual looking to broaden their experience and contribute to shaping the skills landscape.
Commitment
Appointments are for a period of up to four years and are non remunerated, although travel expenses will be paid. The Committee meets a minimum of four times per year, either remotely or at a UK location, and meetings last approximately three hours. Additional workshops or training sessions may be arranged at the Chair’s discretion.

All submissions will be reviewed by a shortlisting panel comprising two CITB Board Trustees (including the Committee Chair), CITB's Strategy & Policy Director, and CITB's Head of Strategy. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to interview with the Committee Chair and another panel member. The CITB Corporate Governance Team will support this process.

Expression of Interest for CITB England Nation Council Member Position
CITB is inviting senior members of the UK construction industry to join its England Nation Council to help tackle industry challenges and set the direction of the skills system.
Role
A member position is now available, offering the successful applicant an important role in shaping the future of UK construction. Members of the England Nation Council advise the CITB Board on industry priorities, strategic planning, and performance targets. They ensure industry needs are accurately represented, contribute to developing effective Nation Plans, and provide timely recommendations on emerging issues. This role supports CITB’s mission to build a skilled, sustainable workforce for the UK construction sector.
The England Nation Council’s purpose is:
- To capture and articulate to the Board key issues affecting or likely to affect Industry over a forecast period of three years;
- Together with the other Nation Councils assist the Board to accurately prioritise support for key issues affecting Industry across Great Britain and to advise on Key Performance Indicators and other targets to measure progress, including on the CITB’s efficiency and effectiveness;
- Review and advise the Board on CITB’s Strategic Plan (‘the Plan’) to ensure that the Plan appropriately addresses Industry opportunities, pressures and priorities as identified through CITB’S evidence base, which the Nations Councils will help to enhance;
- Inform and assist CITB to distil from the Strategic Plan, clear Nation Plans that reflect the differing needs and ways of meeting them in each Nation priorities and with achievable and measurable targets;
- To make timely recommendations to the Board about extraordinary matters arising that may impact on the ability of the Board to deliver either the Strategic or the Nation Plan.
To effectively serve the industry, the Council needs a broad range of representatives from across the construction sector who understand emerging challenges and are dedicated to advancing industry priorities.
Skills and Expertise
We are seeking a candidate with a strong understanding of industry challenges, strategic planning, and performance evaluation to contribute effectively to the Council. The role offers an excellent opportunity for someone looking to expand their professional experience by advising on industry priorities, shaping strategic and nation-specific plans, and making impactful recommendations to support the sector’s growth.
Commitment
Each appointment of a member is for a period of up to three years and is non-remunerated, although travel expenses will be paid. There are a minimum four meetings per year, held either remotely via video conference, or at a given location in Wales, and meetings last approximately 3 hours. Additional workshops and training sessions may be added to the Council’s work programme from time-to-time if there is a specific need to do so, and at the Chair’s discretion.

Expression of Interest for Scotland Nation Council Member Positions
The Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) are looking for senior, experienced and knowledgeable industry representatives from SME’s, large employers, and independent consultants etc. who can demonstrate a consultative and collaborative approach to partnership working within the Scotland Nation Council and with the CITB Board.
The Nation Councils have an important role in supporting the CITB Board in its strategic leadership, by providing insight into industry challenges, across nations, regions and sectors and acting as a sounding board for Trustees. In particular:
- To capture and articulate to the Board key issues affecting or likely to affect industry over a forecast period of 3 years
- Together with the other Nation Councils (Scotland, England and Cymru Wales) assist the Board to accurately prioritise support for key issues affecting industry across Great Britain
- Review and advise the Board on CITB’s Strategic Business Plan (‘the Plan’) to ensure that the Plan appropriately addresses industry opportunities, pressures and priorities as identified through CITB’S evidence base, which the Nations Councils will help to enhance
- To make timely recommendations to the Board about extraordinary matters arising that may impact on the ability of the Board to deliver the Plan
Each appointment of a Member is for a period of up to three years and is non-remunerated, although travel expenses will be paid. There are a minimum four meetings per year, held either remotely via Microsoft teams or at a given location.
