The project is the third and final stage of a set of three projects which have piloted a series of short videos These videos communicate key information on the topic of safety at work.

The aim of these videos is to influence behaviour and reduce accidents on site to develop a learning resource which is flexible, can be delivered on site with minimal resource, and can be embedded into existing training practices through the Utilities Contractors Training Group membership.

The project will address recent significant demand to utilise new technological advances in CNC machinery in Shopfitting, Interior Construction and Wood Machining sectors.

After the project, the skills gap in CNC operation will be reduced as CNC operators are given the skills they need to carry out their work.

The project will upskill operatives with grandfather rights to ensure all those with CSCS cards also achieve associated NVQs by 2020.

It will do this by developing an introductory course and Specialist Upskilling Programme (SUP) and these courses will then be rolled out to the sector.

The project will address the roofing industry training needs by bringing together the main roofing industry stakeholders, the 12 regional roof training groups and 11 major roofing trade associations to develop and roll out a basic competency programme.

The Basic Competency Programme represents manufacturers training derived from the minimum technical competencies and mapped to a Vocational Qualification and National Occupational Standards.

The project will develop a sector infrastructure that will define how we attract, train and retain a skilled and professional workforce sufficient to build over 1 million new homes in the next 5 years.

By engaging up to 100 homebuilders and targeting specific occupations, and with the support and leadership of the homebuilders. The project will create and develop an industry-responsive infrastructure which will communicate the benefits of smart recruitment, training and retaining to up to 3,500 homebuilders and homebuilding supply chain companies across the UK.

The Infrastructure 21 project is a cross-industry collaboration that focuses on ensuring that the UK’s infrastructure supply chain has the competence and capacity to deliver a 50% increase in output in the next five years. It will develop and deliver upskilling for supply chain firms, targeted directly at those areas identified by industry as priorities through an extensive industry survey.

The project will develop a sustainable model for specialist infrastructure training provision, creating a structured framework that allows employees in the sector to develop the core skills that they require to operate in key roles in the sector where skills shortages currently exist. The end-state will be a self-sustaining training model that is developed by industry, for industry; providing targeted training that would not otherwise be readily available for companies in the sector.

This project will reduce the skills gap and increase training expenditure by delivering a programme of enhancements to SME employers in the finishes and interiors sector to achieve L2 NVQs in appropriate occupation.

The benefits will primarily enhance collaborative working and increase value added per employee.

The project will provide demand-led OSAT training for the finishes and interiors sector. This project will address the growing need for NVQs in the sector. It will engage 100 companies in the process, ensuring the inclusion of 25% disengaged employers who have not availed of CITB funding or grants in past 3 years. The delivery model for this project will assist in alleviating key skills issues for the sector and will provide a foundation for further funding which will have additional impact on the company/ individual.

The project will work specifically with SMEs with less than 200 PAYE employees to:

• Promote the introduction of a new level 2 vocational qualification for Formwork Erector/Striker
• Upskill operatives to achieve currently available level 2 qualifications relevant to the RC Frame Sector
• Create a skills and competence pathway model to demonstrate how an individual can become trade qualified through an apprenticeship.
