Entry requirements: Experience of Ames Taping
A 4-day course for experienced dryliners in Accelerated Workforce Development seeking a qualification in Ames Taping.
You get an NCC Scotland Certificate that can be used towards an SVQ Dry Lining Finishing, after 3 years' site experience.
Course content
- Health & Safety
- Hand-taping tools and materials
- Joint types, hand application techniques
- Mechanical taping using Bazooka and corner tools
- Mechanical set-up and maintenance
- Combined hand and mechanical techniques
NOTE: Some elements of the practical training meet the standards of national occupational standards (NOS) but do not count towards units.
Teaching & Assessment
- Classroom learning and practical activities
- Trainer's daily observation
- Peer review and self-assessment
- Final assessment
What you get
- NCC Scotland Certificate
- Experience that gives you practical skills you can use to progress towards an SVQ Dry Lining Finishing. (3 years' site experience required for SVQ Assessment).
And an understanding of the following:
- Safe handling and application of jointing materials with hand and mechanical tools
- Accuracy and consistency in taping finishes
- How to store, maintain, and use tools and materials effectively
- Safe, tidy, efficient working practices aligned to site standards
Entry requirements
- Evidence of on-site experience
- Good spoken and written English
