This apprenticeship course is designed for individuals who want to develop the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required to work as a demolition operative within the construction industry.
The purpose of this role is to safely and efficiently carry out demolition work on a variety of structures, using both hand and mechanical methods. Apprentices will learn how to prepare sites for demolition, follow strict health and safety protocols, and use specialised tools and equipment to dismantle buildings and structures in a controlled manner.
As part of the apprenticeship, individuals will also be trained in non-operational tasks such as securing the site, removing hazardous materials, handling waste and recyclable materials, and working as part of a wider team to ensure the job is completed to the required standard.
This apprenticeship offers a pathway to further career progression, with the potential to move into roles such as demolition supervisor, site manager, or even starting their own demolition or construction-related business.

Maths and English
The UK government has announced that adult learners over 19 no longer need formal English and maths qualifications for apprenticeships. However, apprentices must still show proficiency in these skills during their training.
At the National Construction College (NCC), we will continue to offer Level 1 and Level 2 English and Maths Functional Skills qualifications, along with Applied English and Maths for Construction sessions. These sessions focus on practical, industry-relevant skills to help apprentices succeed in their roles and pass their assessments.
We believe strong literacy and numeracy are crucial for personal and professional growth. By offering these qualifications and sessions, we ensure our apprentices gain essential skills for long-term success.
