Course content
- Understand operator responsibilities, site safety, and relevant regulations (PUWER, LOLER)
- Identify machine components, controls, and safety systems
- Conduct daily pre-use checks and basic routine maintenance
- Mount, dismount, and operate the dumper safely
- Drive forwards, reverse, and manoeuvre on slopes and uneven ground
- Load, tip, and position materials efficiently while maintaining stability
- Work safely around site personnel, banks person, and other plant
- Recognise hazards, ground conditions, and environmental risks
- Perform safe shutdown, parking, and machine isolation procedures
- Prepare for CPCS theory and practical assessments.
Teaching and assessment
- 1 day classroom learning and practical exercises
- 1-day CPCS technical tests.

- CITB HS&E test passed within the last two years, or the new CPCS Plant Operative Health, Safety and Environment Test - NOCN Job Cards
- Good spoken and written English.
