This one-day course explores how 3D machine controls can reduce costs on site. Plant operatives will learn primary functions and features to use the equipment correctly.
Course content
The course includes:
- How GNSS antennas receive signals and corrections are applied using a local base station or network RTK
- Explanation of GNSS technology and how it can improve construction workflow
- How to classify machine control into two categories using the extra hydraulic function
- Hardware overview and calibration requirements
- The basics of a 2D systems and UI of the MC1 system and how to navigate menus
- Diagnose potential problems and checks
- Data syn process, including how to select projects, models and co-ordinate systems
- Basic use, including offsets, selecting linework and surfaces, recording as-build points and customisation.
- How to create your own model using the on-board tools.
Teaching and assessment
Classroom-based theory and practical sessions using simulation software. NOCN-assured training resources are used.
Assessment:
- Practical assessment (Pass mark: 10/10)
- Multiple-choice test and short written answer question paper (Pass mark: 11/15)
Learners must pass both parts of the assessment. One resit of each is allowed.
