How to become a TPN member

Applying to become a Training Provider Network (TPN) member is straightforward, with support available to help you complete your application successfully.

Types of training categories

There are four types of training categories that a training provider can apply to offer. They are defined as follows:

  • Endorsed: You are delivering training that that is not standardised or accredited by CITB or an awarding organisation but supports the construction industry. This includes ‘soft skills’ training e.g. ICT, management, back-office, and non-standardised training.
  • Recognised: You are delivering training that is approved by an awarding organisation e.g. City & Guilds, or qualifications regulated by Ofqual, SQA or Qualification Wales
  • Assured: You are delivering training that can be mapped against appropriate CITB Short duration training standards
  • Licensed: You want to deliver CITB Site Safety Plus (SSP) courses, or become an Internet Test Centre (ITC) for the CITB HS&E test.

TPN application routes

There are three application routes

  • Existing ATO, SSP, ITC
  • New Provider - Endorsed, Recognised or Assured categories
  • New Provider - Licensed category - SSP or ITC

Existing Approved Training Organisations (ATOs) Site Safety Plus Providers (SSPs) and Internet Test Centres (ITCs)

If you are currently an ATO, SSP or ITC we’ll be in touch to support you becoming a TPN member.

You will need to follow the relevant application routes if you wish to offer additional products or services.

New provider - Endorsed, Recognised or Assured categories

If you are a new provider to CITB offering training in the endorsed, recognised or assured categories learn about the benefits of joining the TPN.

Review the Types of training categories to understand which category the products or services you wish to offer are included in.

Submitting an application

You will need to have the following information available when you complete your application.

  • Your Companies House registration number (if applicable)
  • Your company’s registered name, trading name, registered address, contact details and details of your company accounts department
  • Organisation name (if not a company), trading name, registered address and contact details including for accounting purposes
  • Sole trader name (if applicable), address, contact details and accounts information
  • Your CITB Levy Registration Number (if applicable)
  • Your registered charity number (if applicable)
  • Proof of approval from any Awarding Organisations (if applicable)
  • Appropriate authority within your organisation to sign the Forms of Agreement with CITB.

Complete the online application form

Once submitted, your application will be processed by CITB within 10 working days.

Our Quality Assurance team will support you throughout the process and request any additional details needed.  Successful applicants will receive a Form of Agreement (FoA) for digital signature and contact details for their Senior Quality Consultant, who will be able to help with any quality assurance queries.

We’ll send you a Welcome Email to confirm that your Membership has been activated once the signed FoA has been received. It will also give you access to a members-only site containing the Handbook, support materials and lots of useful information. Within 10 working days of joining, your Training Provider Relationship Manager (TPRM) will contact you. They’ll help you make the most of your Training Provider Network membership.
