Reviewing, sharing and celebrating experiences

Reviewing, sharing and celebrating your experiences of using the National Skills Academy for Construction (NSAfC) approach will help you raise your organisation’s profile, contribute to a community of like-minded organisations and spread best practice across the construction industry at large.

Reviewing progress and promoting best practice

One of the steps in the NSAfC approach is a formal review of progress against your KPIs. While this is a necessary step, it's also a perfect opportunity to reflect on what has gone well, and what needs further improvement. This process can help you develop best practice with your collaborators that can be shared with other NSAfC projects and the wider construction industry.

Sharing your experiences

Sharing your experiences and celebrating your successes is an important part of spreading best practice and promoting construction generally.

You can do this by:

  • using social media
  • talking about your project to local news and radio services
  • keeping your public liaison officers informed
  • getting in touch with relevant local events
  • issuing bulletins (PDF, 642KB) and newsletters
  • updating company notice boards
  • organising public information events
  • writing up case studies
  • applying for awards.

Writing case studies

Submitting a case study that describes best practice or a significant achievement of your project is an outcome under KPI 7.

Your case study should follow the headings set out in our template (PDF, 1.2MB).

  • challenge – what the project sets out to achieve in skills and employment terms
  • response – how you achieved the relevant outcomes
  • results – what the outcomes were
  • takeaways  – what other organisations could learn from your experiences.

Demonstrate how you have met your targets and delivered on your employment skills plan. If possible you should highlight best practice – for example, in managing apprentices and work placements, organising events, upskilling the supply chain, and providing social value and benefits to the community. Write about how your actions made a difference to the delivery of outcomes.

Case studies benefit from the personal thoughts and opinions of participants; you can include quotations where necessary. You should also attach photos to illustrate your points.

Before you send it to us, you will need to get the appropriate approval and permissions from your own organisation about its content. You will also need to get the consent of any subject of the case study, which you should pass on to us. Download a case study consent form (Word file, 74KB).

Applying for awards

Celebrate your work and showcase your company’s successes by applying for awards, such as the National Apprenticeship Awards and Constructing Excellence Awards.

The National Apprenticeship Awards celebrate outstanding apprentices, employers and people who champion apprenticeships.

The Constructing Excellence Awards are organised regionally, with winners going forward to an annual award. They recognise projects that have delivered improved performance through collaboration and a desire to make a difference.
