Standardised Work Workshop Summary
This workshop is designed to promote the benefits of standardising repeated tasks through hands-on activities. Site access is required during and after the first session.

On-Site Workshop Format

  1. Workshop 1 – Initiate
Introduce or revisit the concept of standardised work. Conduct site observations with participants to identify improvement areas and develop an action plan with a defined baseline. Secure senior management agreement to proceed with standardisation.
  2. Workshop 2 – Check and Continue
Revisit the site to evaluate progress against the baseline. Discuss successes, replicate good practices, and address any challenges in sustaining and expanding Lean techniques.

Alternative Off-Site Format
If site access isn’t possible, adapt the workshop to:

  • Focus on Workshop 1 videos, activities, and group discussions.
  • Use alternative locations (e.g., participants’ homes or offices) to explore standardisation opportunities.
  • Run the content in shorter or staggered sessions to suit availability.

Remote participants are asked to:

  • Choose and photograph a task or area suitable for standardisation.
  • Share their findings and ideas with the group.
  • Create individual or shared improvement plans

This module is useful for managers, team members and leaders that are supporting or involved in Lean/improvement activities in the construction industry.

This standard is both practical and theoretical training, the practical element is 66% practical applied learning in the workplace.
