Employers’ consultation on qualifications in Wales: Employer sign-off

We’re asking for your views as employers on the new Construction and the built environment qualifications in Wales. The new qualifications will ensure the workforce is supported by more highly skilled and work-ready learners.

We need your views

A consortium of City & Guilds and EAL are developing the qualifications. They are seeking your input as an employer into the shape and scope of ‘employer sign-off’ of competence.

Help set the standards for the new 'employer sign-off'

As part of the new qualifications, employers will ‘sign off’ their apprentices. This will signal that an employer feels that their apprentice is competent and can work consistently to industry standards in their trade.

This sign-off from employers will be the gateway for final assessment of all apprentices in Wales.

It is essential that we get this right and implement the most appropriate and doable system that will provide a robust effective system for employers to take an active part in the assessment of their apprentices.
