Grant codes: A05HA and A06HA
From September 2017 the CITB Grants Scheme will include a package of grant support for higher and degree apprenticeships. This will replace the support for this training currently provided through Technical and Professional Grants (A09 and A25). However, technical and professional training that is not an Apprenticeship will continue to be paid through Technical and Professional Grants (A09 and A25).
Who can claim
Employers registered with CITB who submitted an accurate Levy Return by 31 December 2017.
The grant supports training for your:

How much you can claim
The grant rates for higher and degree level apprenticeships will be:
- £1,125 for each year for attendance, paid in quarterly installments of £281.25 (A05HA).
- £3,125 grant for achievement of the End Point Assessment (EPA) in England and the higher apprenticeship framework in Scotland and Wales (A06HA)
You also get an extra 10% payment if you pay the CITB levy and meet certain deadlines. See Supplementary payment.
What the grant supports
This grant package supports apprenticeships in in-scope occupations as defined by the CITB Scope Order. These occupations are further defined on our website under Who must register.
It includes higher apprenticeship standards at Level 4 and above in England, higher apprenticeship frameworks at level 4 and above in Wales and graduate/degree level apprenticeships at SCQF levels 10 and 11 in Scotland, which are:
This grant package will also support apprenticeships in occupations that are deemed to be construction related and have been tested against set criteria.
How to claim
It is important that you read the higher apprenticeship rules carefully before you make a claim.
You must to register your higher apprentice with an approved apprenticeship provider and apply for grant within 26 weeks of the training start date. Contact CITB grant queries with details of your higher apprenticeship to confirm eligibility for grant support. A higher apprenticeship grant application form will them be issued for you to complete and submit.
You will also need to provide evidence that your employee is undertaking a genuine higher apprenticeship framework/standard by completing the appropriate sections of the application form and submitting proof to us by email.
